About the Owner

A love of the outdoors and a desire to work in a challenging, rewarding profession led owner, Jarrod Joyce, to explore a career in the green industry. Having graduated from Northeastern University in 2003 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Jarrod decided to earn a second degree while learning all he could about landscape design and horticulture. In 2008, he enrolled in the Stockbridge School of Agriculture at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and earned an Associates Degree in Landscape Contracting. Since then, his desire to work outdoors has turned into a passion for plants, landscape design, and the creation of Good Roots Landscape and Design.

He completed a course in Organic Land Care to become an Accredited Organic Land Care Professional (AOLCP), he has become a Massachusetts Certified Arborist (MCA – # 2451), and he has completed the University of Massachusetts Extension’s Green School with a certificate in Turf Management. Jarrod regularly attends industry seminars and trade shows to keep up with new innovations and continues to learn all that he can about plants, horticulture, and landscape design.

Prior to establishing Good Roots Landscape and Design, Jarrod earned a wide range of work experience, including working for a general landscape maintenance company, a high-end tree care company, and a skilled organic gardening company. This experience has been invaluable and Jarrod has been fortunate and thankful to have learned from some very talented and knowledgeable professionals.

Jarrod was a fantastic resource and guide during the installation of my garden.  He was creative while keeping in mind my budget.  His patience with my endless questions knew no bounds.  He was unfailingly professional and hardworking, finishing up my garden ahead of schedule.  I am greatly looking forward to spring and enjoying my very first garden.
